How long will they last?

Festivals and festivity do not end
Jingle bells, Santa Claus, cake and cookies
Gifts and gifting, silk and satin
Gowns and cloaks, sandals and shoes!

Welcome 2022, New Year celebrations
Sweets, chocolates, candies and candles
Church and Chapels, Mandir and Mosque
All communities, party and promises.

2021 comes to an end, Oh! December
Look back, look forward, Pandemic
Still, thank the Lord, we are alive
Numb eyes, frozen tongue, greying.

Five generations, we have witnessed
Traditions and customs, year by year
Nothing new, nothing good or bad
Oh! DECEMBER, IT IS YOU!

Say hello to a toddler!
And look, they look back, shaking a hand
Bye-bye is what they welcome with a smile
Let the bygones, be bygones.

Into the valley of life
Strive, smile, grin or grumble
Bye-bye and farewell 2021
