Gratitude to the Guru
September is here. Oh! This month is devoted to Teachers, Gurus.
Suman is a small baby of three; admission to kindergarten has no meaning. She is attractively dressed, sitting in the tonga, a ghoda gaddi. Time flies, Suman is seven years and now in the blink of an eye, she’s six decades old. It is a roll back!
A preparatory standard student vividly remembers her English teacher. How and why then she is reminded of her First standard teacher, her drill and preparation! For the Annual Function she had to enact the role of Cinderella - the white frilled frock, sandals and crown.
Believe me she skipped the memories and remembers her sixth standard teachers and teachers of all subjects - Hindi, English, Maths, Civics, etc. In higher standards Sanskrit... Oh! The Board exam!
Students play their pranks, they nickname their Gurus. They have hearts of gold they don’t mind late home works, excuses, and on goes the class and teaching eraser i.e. duster and chalk.

Just imagine after doing everything, approaching the super senior category the analytical mind now is more obliged to express gratitude to educators who have helped us achieve and attain our present and future. Pranam! Pranam! Let me be frank, only this profession and the relationship that we call culture and heritage stands true!
Memories turn fossils. I too have received the same. A child or grown up will always remember - The Guru. Professors of higher and technical education all have the same approach towards students. The bonding is for times immemorial. I feel blessed to be a part of this tradition.
And a piece of advice to the young Indians please... please... hold the reins, gallop, but keep the tradition alive!
Happy Teacher’s Day!
SEPTEMBER IS HERE, SEPTEMBER WILL LIVE TO INFINITY!
