Happy Summer Holidays

The word , “HAPPY”, sends a thrill, from head to toe like wow! Finally THE SUMMER HOLIDAYS have arrived. Summer Oh God! Heat, blaze, loo, morning or setting sun appears like a disc of rose gold.

Mother is an experienced lady; she knows the choice of her kids. Keep them safe and busy. Lazing, sleeping late, no timing for the wakeup call. Daddy has left for office. The maid has swept and mopped the bedroom, she dare not disturb, and she is shivering as if on the hills, poor lady without a warmer. You are comfortable cuddled in a sheet or fleece blanket.

Oh! It is almost lunchtime. Mom, “We will have brunch “. Any shake will do, no strawberry, mango. Yes nice and heavy stuffed potato parantha. Nothing extraordinary. On goes the Idiot Box, volume, who cares? Well, holidays. No disturbance. Mom knows lunch will be at 4 or 5, her tea time. The domestic help is on the spree. Come, she has come to collect the soiled crockery and cutlery.

The sun has set. Now it is time to have bath and brush the teeth. Father is on his way home. Story book or comic. No time for holiday project. Time flies.... cousin is coming. Pen and note pad, planning. No, no. Something new. We will go trekking, rowing. God! My mistake! Saving pocket money, planning in advance. “When will I, be more responsible”.

No due to the Pandemic, and that too more than two long years, the kiddos dare not plan for a holiday outside home. Small town limitations. Holidays at home. More than happy. Hardly any school just three months offline. Well! Well! must help Mom. Moral duty. New outfit, soft and comfortable, shorts no tea shirts. Frocks, skirt, anything will do.

Music, ice creams, cups or cones. Fixed menu. Coolers , ACs the electric bill is going to break the ceiling. The children should grow. Same old woes. God! The Proverb, “God helps those who help themselves “. Well! No wastage. Food, water. Save time, energy, take up social work. Well! Will coach and help the maids children.

Laugh, dance, read, munch, gulp. Finally the home assignment and holiday project.
Holidays that too Summer. The children pledge to do something extraordinary.
Bye bye Summer 2022. God the monsoon should be favourable.
