Life at Mountains

Happy 2023 to the wonderful readers out there!

This time I’ll be sharing my experience about leading a life in the hills. I spent the first five days of 2023 in Uttrakhand and found that nothing could be at par with this beautiful journey. My eyes were not agreeing to close for even a while and rest. The more beautiful the place is the more arduous journey people living there lead. I felt that my problems were just a pinprick in front of the hardships they go through. I saw old women carrying sticks on their back and walking miles on their aged feet. I saw frivolous kids playing on the mountain streets whereas I was just worried about wrapping myself with furry jackets to escape the cold. I tried to closely observe their lifestyle and after working out the report I jeered at myself for weeping over infructuous matters that I perceived to be struggles. A thought crossed the tangled threads of my mind and it was like – these people are struggling to just lead a life whereas we are struggling to earn more. They’ve made their present ‘God’s biggest present’, whereas, we are lost in dreaming about the future and regretting over past. This journey taught me to feel gratitude. This was indeed an inspirational package! I learnt many lessons as well. ‘Land of the God’- perfectly apposite title for Uttrakhand! I could feel the positive vibrations in the air; I could hear the song of life through the ripples of river Ganga, the lofty mountains made me feel as if I’m at the pinnacle and the winds of Auli(in Uttrakhand) touched my soul. I could feel the spiritual vibes in the air. No doubts, the energy that flows in hills doesn’t have an existence amid our busy lives.

The TRAGEDY THAT LEFT ME IN A STATE OF DISPONDENCE: ‘Joshimath is sinking.’ I hope you must have heard of this. Joshimath witnessed wide and quite deep cracks in its land and still the situation is precarious. This happened just a day after we left the place. It was excruciatingly painful for me to hear the bad tidings about that heavenly land. The pace of development is eating up the life of Joshimath. No wonder, how a beautiful mountain that is also another domicile of God is falling into a pieces.

I would now wrap up this piece by sharing that... the days spent on the mountains, added to the most beautiful memories in my journey. Every time when I think of this place, my soul gets happy!
