Mother to my Motherland
Labelled a barren womb
Whoever could have know
You thrive to be the land
In the eyes, in which dreams you sew
Conceived a lotus while you –
Yourself being born among thorns
You made your bosom dry
The greenest greatest treasure of yours

Prejudiced as not worthwhile
Yet born out of you
was the greatest treasure of the bloodline
All my sisters owe it all to you
To stand as an allegory to them all
For filling colours,
Against all walls
Against all odds.
