The Tribute
Into the valley of death,
Went the two hundred.
Thousand against the hundred two
But they knew what to do.
Though betrayal and deception was enemy's trait,
It did not let them their glory fade.
They did not question how and why,
They went there to do or die.
The enemy was strong and fought it hard,
They did not let them march an inch forward.
With all the valour and all the might,
They pounced upon the foe like a tiger wild.

Freezing water at their feet and azure sky above their head,
They laid two scores of enemy dead.
And once there the war cry quelled,
In their hands the martyrs they held.
Home they brought their warriors dead,
In the tricolour were the bodies draped.
For the nation they laid their life,
Leaving behind orphaned children and widowed wife.
Came they back from the jaws of death,
All those remained of the two hundred.
