Transitions in Photography
On ‘World Photography Day’, my personal approach to photography is that I have seen the Transition. I was a five year old child when I saw a camera packed in a box. Opening or touching, forget about fiddling was not allowed cause a disciplined lifestyle. Two small rectangular trays, a big square tray, stark white. Child of the age I just mentioned had queries. What is this ? My mother said, “Listen attentively, this is a box camera made in Germany. These are developing trays. Your father has a hobby it is indeed royal.
In the 20th Century I witnessed the Transition - Canon Camera made in India.
I gifted him one, he was working for NDTV. I also bought him a tripod to fix and adjust the height. On our tour to United States he bought variety of lenses. One could capture images of unimaginable range. He had turned professional. I saw the introduction of selfie-stick. On the 19th of this month, an interview of a senior cameraman I viewed on Doordarshan channel. He mentioned that the mobile, shoot sharp images but this is reflection. It is not Photography. The camera shoots images which can be enlarged and shot focusing the pupil.

Photography plays a very important role in the field of medicine, education, banking, manufacturing, agriculture etc. media - electronic or print . Digitalised world would/could not survive / exist. We would roll back to primitive age. Advancement in technology has given the humans to enjoy the past and the present. The future of Photography is unimaginable. In the years or centuries ahead life would be... either more enjoyable or there will be... lot of suffering. Well !! God knows! At least I cannot imagine how the humans will manage without photography. The future generations will have much more to say and do on World Photography Day. Lucky and destiny we decide. Oh!!!
Enjoy and celebrate the World Photography Day. Celebrations should be held and my best wishes to those who love photography, mobile or camera. Albums, videos, selfie create so much fun. Life without Photography would be horrible. How can we... enjoy the past and present without Photography? Transition should go on and on.
